Prosecco Superiore is a white wine with an elegant soul and fruity floral aromas. Its history begins in north-eastern Italy, in Conegliano Valdobbiadene, where the grapes that determine its origin have been cultivated for more than three centuries.
The production area, the birthplace of Prosecco, comprising 15 municipalities, has been classified by the Ministry of Agriculture as a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin), which recognises Italy’s highest level of quality.
Each bottle is distinguished by the State seal, a number that makes it unique and traceable, with the name and logo of the designation and can be recognised by its golden colour, which is common to all Italian DOCGs.
The label, on the other hand, can be considered the wine’s identity card, where the name of the territory of origin is indicated in addition to other information.
In 2008, a project was launched to recognise the Prosecco di Valdobbiadene hills as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a place with a unique landscape and cultural setting.
